Biography

Dr. Abdoli is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Abdoli received a PhD in nursing from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, a MSN (nursing education) from Tehran University of Medical sciences and a BSN degree from Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in Iran.

Dr. Abdoli’s research trajectory is a purposeful record of discovery with the overarching goal of advancing behavioral and psychosocial diabetes care through collaborative research partnerships. She specifically focuses on exploration of diabetes burnout. Her work aims to understand ways in which researchers and clinicians might provide support to prevent burnout and to develop tailored interventions to manage diabetes burnout. Dr. Abdoli’s internal and external grants, manuscript publications, and scientific abstracts reflect a transdisciplinary team science approach to advance scientific diabetes knowledge. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in different scientific journals. Dr. Abdoli is an active member of several professional organizations.

Dr. Abdoli teaches in the graduate program at the University of Tennessee, College of Nursing. Her teaching interests are grant writing and philosophy of nursing science. Dr. Abdoli’s teaching style has been significantly influenced by her fifteen years of mentorship and teaching experience in Iran and in the US.
