Biography
Melanie Mixon is a dedicated Clinical Instructor and Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PPNCP) with over 25 years of experience in healthcare and education. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, Mixon has built a strong foundation in both the clinical and academic aspects of nursing. She has been a Clinical Instructor for the past 9 years, specializing in pediatric nursing, where she combines her passion for teaching with her deep clinical expertise.
Before teaching, Mixon practiced as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, providing high-quality, compassionate care to children and families. Her clinical practice focuses on pediatric healthcare, specializing in allergy and asthma. There, she managed a range of conditions and ensured the well-being of her young patients through evidence-based practices. As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, she is dedicated to advancing pediatric nursing care and contributing to the education and development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In addition to her clinical and instructional roles, Mixon is committed to fostering a supportive, hands-on learning environment for her students. Her expertise in pediatric nursing, paired with her dedication to patient-centered care, enables her to guide students in the development of practical skills, critical thinking, and professional growth.
