Biography

Mary Johnson is a clinical assistant professor for the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Johnson earned her Bachelor’s in Biology-Health Science at Tennessee Tech University, earned her BSN and MSN at Lincoln Memorial University and DNP at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Johnson has experience teaching in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program for the College of Nursing and working with students on their doctoral scholarly projects. Her scholarly interest are in the area of whole health system which focuses on integration of mental and physical health with emphasis on de-stigmatizing mental health, emotional Intelligence, and suicide prevention. Johnson currently oversees a HRSA grant which provides free mental healthcare services to five surrounding knox counties.

Johnson has clinical experience working with community mental health in an outpatient setting, inpatient setting at a regional hospital completing psychiatric evaluations, crisis stabilization unit and a 28 day rehab facility.
