Biography
Kathryn Zirkle is a clinical assistant professor and board-certified family nurse practitioner.
Her scholarship is underscored by a commitment to making the healthcare system more accessible for all. Zirkle has worked with communities to develop culturally and linguistically congruent health literacy programs in Tennessee. Her interests include community engaged scholarship, healthcare access, health literacy, and pharmacotherapeutics.
Prior to entering academia, Zirkle worked as a staff nurse in a critical care unit for five years.
Zirkle completed her DNP and BSN at University of Tennessee, and a BA in English at University of Florida. She completed a graduate certificate in health policy from the University of Tennessee and is a Fellow of the Tufts University College of Medicine Health Literacy Leadership Institute.
