  • 2011: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program launches

    Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program enrolls first cohort

    Dr. Victoria Niederhauser becomes College’s fourth Dean upon Dr. Creasia’s retirement

  • 2009: RN to BSN program launches online option

  • 2001: First international trip (Ghana) by College faculty and students to deliver health care services

    ​Continued health service aid missions to international locations

  • 1999: First federal research grant awarded to College

    ​Continued federal and state grant funding for research projects at the College

  • 1998: College continues community outreach by partnering with Volunteer Ministry Clinic

  • 1995: College partners with community to open the Vine Middle Magnet School Health Center

    Dr. Joan Creasia, a 1978 MSN graduate, becomes College’s third Dean

  • 1992: Dr. Joan Uhl Pierce becomes Dean upon Dr. Hart’s retirement

  • 1989: Doctoral program (PhD) launched

  • 1988: Board of Visitors established for the College

  • 1982: College staffs Wellness Station at the Knoxville World’s Fair

  • 1978: Master’s program (MSN) launched

  • 1977: College of Nursing building opens

    College partners with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) on rural outreach program

  • 1975: Registered Nurse (RN) to BSN program launches

  • 1974: First UT College of Nursing class graduates 34 students with Bachelor’s Degrees (BSN)

  • 1972: Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) program enrolls first students

  • 1971: UT College of Nursing established

    Dr. Sylvia Hart becomes first Dean of UT College of Nursing

  • 1969: State-wide study of nursing education concludes UT to establish nursing school
