Open Houses & Information Sessions

Undergraduate Open House & Information Sessions

College of Nursing Event Status Open house/Information session events will be hosted virtually for the Fall semester.

Due to the high volume of individual visit requests for prospective incoming freshman students, the College of Nursing holds High School Open House Sessions for high school junior and senior students and their families to provide information about the program. High school students have the opportunity to meet current nursing student ambassadors and nursing advisors. High School Open House Sessions include information about the freshman direct admissions process as well as nursing curriculum information and highlights of the College of Nursing. Most sessions last approximately one hour. These meetings are for informational purposes only and students will not be advised during this session. Participation in group sessions in no way influences admissions decisions.

High School Open House Sessions are held from 2:30 pm-4:00 pm at the following location:

*The dates signify that we are planning to include a tour of our Lab 207. Please note this is subject to change if the lab becomes unavailable.

**Check for COVID-19 Symptoms**

We ask that you perform a COVID-19 symptom assessment before arriving on campus. Please refrain from visiting campus if you are not feeling well or if you have been in contact with someone who has contracted COVID-19.

Face Coverings & Hygiene

Consistent with newly-updated CDC guidance, fully-vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or social distance on campus, indoors or outdoors. For those individuals who are not fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage them to continue wearing a mask and socially distance for their own protection. Any individual can choose to wear a mask on campus, regardless of their vaccination status.

Our public restrooms will be available for use. We strongly encourage abiding by public health guidelines, including washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer.

While the University of Tennessee is taking all precautions to safeguard our community, we cannot eliminate the risk of COVID-19 exposure and infection on campus. Please be reminded that you are undertaking your visit at your own risk. If any visitor shows symptoms and tests positive for COVID-19 within 48 hours of visiting campus, please report it to the Contact Tracing Team at contacttracing@utk.edu.

The Virtual High School Open House Sessions will be hosted online via Zoom, a free online video conference platform. You do not need a UT account to access the session, but UT’s Office of Information Technology has information and resources about Zoom online.

Due to the high volume of requests for individual advising sessions for prospective students who wish to apply to the College of Nursing, Change of Major Information Sessions are held for both existing UT and external transfer students. Sessions cover information regarding the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and include review of the curriculum, application requirements and application process, and highlights of the College of Nursing. Led by nursing advisors, group sessions include information about the admissions process as well as curriculum information. Most sessions last approximately one hour. Space is limited and an advance reservation is required. These meetings are for informational purposes only and students will not be advised during this session. Participation in group sessions in no way influences admissions decisions.

Change of Major Information Sessions will all be held virtually via Zoom. The link can be found below:

Most sessions last approximately one hour. Space is limited and an advance reservation is required. These meetings are for informational purposes only. Participation in group sessions in no way influences admissions decisions.

Graduate Open House & Information Sessions

College of Nursing Event Status Open house/Information session events will be hosted virtually for the Spring semester.

The Graduate Programs Office will be hosting several virtual information sessions in the Spring of 2021 to discuss our blended distance education DNP, PhD and Graduate Certificate programs.  All of these sessions will be general information sessions and may or may not include concentration coordinators for each of our programs.

Please note that interested individuals must RSVP for the event at https://apply.gradschool.utk.edu/portal/nursing-virtual-visits by 5pm the day prior to each event date.  Information sessions without RSVP attendees are subject to cancellation. Upon registration for each event, registered attendees will receive an email with the corresponding Zoom link for this virtual information session.

Graduate Programs will be hosting a virtual career fair to learn more about roles with an advanced nursing practice or PhD degree. Student and faculty panelists will be available to discuss their own experiences in the field, routes to the DNP and PhD and graduate education within the College of Nursing.  Program agenda includes:
