Academic Advising Information
Academic advising is a shared responsibility with students and advisors
working together to develop and enhance educational plans and to promote
academic success toward the realization of your goals. However, the
student, not the advisor, bears the ultimate responsibility for
selecting courses, meeting course prerequisites, and adhering to
policies and procedures. View the Advising Syllabus
UT Academic Advising Policy
The University of Tennessee recognizes academic advising to be a
critical component of the educational experience and student success.
All undergraduate students are required to meet with an academic advisor
in the fall and spring semesters. After accruing 30 hours at UT
Knoxville, students may meet with an advisor once a year. Students
whose ID ends with an even number (including zero) are advised in Fall,
and students whose ID ends with an odd number are advised in Spring.
