DNP Program Chair
Dr. Brewer earned a DNP in Educational Leadership from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and a MSN in Nursing Education from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, she received a BSN in Nursing from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Dr. Brewer is a certified inpatient obstetrical nurse (RNC-OB) and certified lactation counselor (CLC).
Dr. Brewer teaches and advises in the DNP program at the University of Tennessee, College of Nursing. Her areas of interest in teaching are evidence-based practice, quality improvement, pathophysiology, and DNP project development. Her research interests include understanding the organizational culture of both practice and academic settings for implementation and beliefs towards adopting evidence-based practice (EBP).
Additionally, Dr. Brewer is a member of the national Research Advisory Panel for the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrical and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). She is a member and grant reviewer for the Society of Pediatric Nurses and serves as a journal reviewer for “Pediatrics” and “Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing”.
