Biography

Dr. Cornette earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Kentucky-Lexington. Additionally, he has earned a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.

Dr. Cornette is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) and a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). He is a Fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and has served as President of the Rho Mu chapter. He is a member of Delta Epsilon Iota; The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

Dr. Cornette is the coordinator of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner concentration and a Clinical Associate Professor at the College of Nursing. He teaches in the DNP and post Masters certification programs of the pediatric nurse practitioner concentration. His research interests are the emotional impact of obesity on children.

Dr. Cornette has served as a reviewer for: Worldviews on Evidence Based Nursing; Acta Paediatrica; Ammons Scientific; and Elsevier Economics and Human Biology. He has published journal articles, book chapters, and served as a Subject Matter Expert / Ancillary writer for nursing text.
