Biography

Kathryn Crawford, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is a clinical assistant professor and board-certified family nurse practitioner. Her scholarship is underscored by a commitment to making the Tennessee healthcare system more accessible for all, especially immigrant and refugee populations. Over the last three years, Crawford has worked with communities to develop culturally and linguistically congruent health literacy programs in Tennessee. Her interests include community-engaged scholarship, immigrant and refugee health, health policy, health literacy, and critical theory.

Prior to entering academia, Crawford worked as a staff nurse in a critical care unit for five years.

Crawford completed her DNP and BSN at the University of Tennessee and a BA in English at the University of Florida. She completed a graduate certificate in health policy from the University of Tennessee and is a Fellow of the Tufts University College of Medicine Health Literacy Leadership Institute.
