The University of Tennessee, College of Nursing’s annual Pharmacology Update will be on Friday, November 20. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m.
Dr. James Wheeler, associate dean and associate professor of clinical pharmacy and translation science from the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center, will spend the first half breaking down major medication families. This comprehensive session covers every major organ system and highlights all vital updates for 2026.
The afternoon session will cover the treatment and management of opioid and benzodiazepines prescriptions. Attendance satisfies the Tennessee state law mandate requiring all licensed healthcare practitioners to complete 2 contact hours of continuing education on controlled-substance prescribing during every license cycle.
