Dedicated to innovation and excellence in health care, the College of Nursing is proud to welcome Associate Professor Kimberly Powell to Rocky Top.
Recognized by Knox News as one of eight University of Tennessee “rock star” faculty hires, Powell brings a forward-looking research focus rooted in precision health. Her work centers on the relationship between informatics, aging, and health equity, with particular attention to how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning shape care and outcomes for individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
By examining how these technologies affect older adults, Powell’s research helps strengthen the quality of care across acute care, long-term care, community settings, or rural environments. She has also begun focusing on telehealth as a practical, high-impact tool for expanding access and delivering next level care to older adults, especially those in rural communities or nursing home settings.
Powell’s arrival reflects the college’s commitment to research that not only advances health care innovation but also ensures that progress reaches the people and communities who need it most.
