Diane Carr
Research Information Specialist
Length of service at UT: 3 years
What motivates and energizes you at work? Peanut butter M&Ms or doughnuts. Definitely doughnuts.
What is one thing you love about your job or gives your job purpose and meaning? I love solving problems and coming up with creative ways to graphically depict the amazing work being done at the CON
Favorite lunch spot on or near campus? The Tomato Head
What is your most memorable experience at UT? Witnessing the Solar Eclipse in 2017 at Ayers Hall
What is one fun fact that you think people would be surprised to know? I have been tear gassed before (and not for tactical training purposes)
What are your favorite things to do outside of work? Running, hiking, boating, camping, pretty much anything that involves being outdoors
Rachael Hodges
Simulation Coordinator
Length of service at UT: 2 years
What motivates and energizes you at work? I never have a boring day– I switch from task to task quite frequently, and there are always lots of interesting and new projects to begin. I thankfully have the ability to be creative and bring ideas to life!
What is one thing you love about your job or gives your job purpose and meaning? I am not only working in the CON, my Alma Mater, fulfilling my purpose as a nurse, but also get to encourage and help educate future nurses! I am glad to see students excited and enthusiastic about their career.
Favorite lunch spot on or near campus? Jason’s Deli– so good!
What is your most memorable experience at UT?— being a student! I’ll never forget the feeling of graduating from this university, and the pride that goes along with being a UT alumna. Also– football. Enough said!
What is one fun fact that you think people would be surprised to know? If I hadn’t been a nurse, I could easily see myself being a rockstar- something about a guitar and life on a stage seems so amazing!
What are your favorite things to do outside of work? I am a self proclaimed Pinterest Queen- I am always making or completing big projects, and love to decorate!
Mary Miles
Purchasing Specialist
Length of service at UT: 10 years
What motivates and energizes you at work? Remembering I’m a part of a team and doing meaningful work for the College of Nursing and UT.
What is one thing you love about your job or gives your job purpose and meaning? I’m fortunate to be a part of an amazing group of people who go above and beyond for others.
Favorite lunch spot on or near campus? Some days I really need a milkshake from Which Wich!
What is your most memorable experience at UT? I’ll never forget my first day of work. It was a great feeling knowing I was a part of the “UT Family”.
What is one fun fact that you think people would be surprised to know? I was a competitive Baton Twirler for 11 years and traveled around the country to compete in national and international competitions. I kept all my batons and still twirl in my driveway. My 10 month old son gets a kick out of it!
What are your favorite things to do outside of work? Being with my family is my favorite way to spend the time. We’re a social bunch so we host a lot of cookouts with friends or we head out for a long weekend of camping.
Missy Miller
Administrative Services Assistant, UG Programs

What motivates and energizes you at work? Being surrounded by a “team” that works and supports one another.
What is one thing you love about your job or gives your job purpose and meaning? My passion to work with others to include administration, faculty, professional staff and students.
Favorite lunch spot on or near campus? Sunspot
What is your most memorable experience at UT? My accomplishment of working in the College of Nursing for 30 years.
What is one fun fact that you think people would be surprised to know? That I own an entertainment company and host Legends/Country/Gospel shows.
What are your favorite things to do outside of work? Be with my grandchildren, visit beautiful waterfalls, attend antique auctions, plan/organize theater shows, and provide entertainment at senior centers/nursing homes.
