Continuing Education

Through the Center for Nursing Practice, we offer a variety of continuing nursing education opportunities including, but not limited to, leadership training, targeted areas of research, mentoring trends, cultural competency, advocacy, forensics, sexual assault training, simulation, and advanced practice nursing topics including an annual pharmacology update.

Face-to-face and webinar sessions are available for proactive nurses in continuously updating their knowledge and skills to promote and improve health care. We position ourselves to support several educational offerings in conjunction with other professional disciplines to endorse the needs of our society.

Pharmacology Update

The annual pharmacology update is a virtual event designed to refresh clinical pharmacology knowledge. Geared towards professionals such as pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and advanced practice nurses working in both clinic and acute care settings, the sessions cover the latest pharmacotherapeutic guidelines. The University of Tennessee Medical Center is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This event offers five contact hours, with two dedicated to the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
